Sky Genie Bosun's Chair

Bosun Chair Review

This month we are highlighting the “New” Sky Genie Bosun’s Chair. A bosun's chair (or boatswain's chair) is a device used to suspend a person from a rope to perform work at height. Originally just a short plank or swath of heavy canvas, many modern bosun's chairs incorporate padded seats as well as clips for hanging tools and other safety features.

What is new? One problem with the bosun’s chair is that the strapping that connected the seat to the board has been one size. Why is that a problem? All workers aren’t the same size. Some workers are beefier than others. Imagine trying to get into a size 32 jeans if you are a 36.

Sky Genie has responded with the new Adjustable Bosun’s Chair.

Another Tool that many window cleaners use is a Safety Harness. We wanted to point out a cool feature of again the Sky Genie LifeSaver Harness.

This harness has a feature that makes it a nice harness for a self-rescue or for attaching oneself to a ladder. The two yellow velcro pieces on the front open and become an attachment point. If one didn’t have a front D ring on his harness and was separated from his chair while falling to safety line this lifesaver harness could be used to attach a decent device to and self-rescue.

Also, it can be used with the Sky Genie Ladder Hook to allow one who is using a harness to attach himself to a ladder that is either stationary or has been stabilized.
