Tip Replacement

Written by Michael Draper

Water being forced thru a small orifice is abrasive and over time the water will bore out a wider hole in a metal tip than it was designed. This is why a person should replace the tips on pressure washing devices regularly. When doing so though one must take into consideration the GPM and the PSI they are operating at. This determines the tip size they will replace. Yes, that is right tips are sized and using the wrong size tip can affect the desired results.

Wand Tips

This is a single tip so using the chart below determine which tip you will need. Let’s say you are running a 4 GPM machine at 4000 PSI. You will need a #4 tip.

Surface Cleaner Tips

Using the same chart to replace the tips in a surface cleaner you will determine the GPM and PSI of your machine and also you will need the number of tips in the surface cleaner as that number we will divide once we determine the tip size.

For Example, if we are running 4 GPM at 4000 PSI the chart will show we would need a 4 tip. However, let’s say we are running a Whisper Wash with two jets. That number 4 tip needs to be divided by two. So, you would be purchasing #2 tips for your surface cleaner to have it work optimally.
